Online chess for kids
CavalMate runs in the browser, on a phone, a tablet or a computer. It is free, with no sign-up and no ads: open the page, play, close it.
Play chess against the computer
Three robots, three levels. Bipbip often plays at random: a 7-year-old can beat him. Robix looks one move further and no longer leaves pieces hanging. Titan looks for the best move, so you need to play well to beat him. You can take White or Black.
Two-player chess on the same screen
Two players, one phone or one computer: each plays in turn. Perfect for a game between siblings, or between a parent and a child.
Learn chess by playing
Tap a piece and the squares it can reach light up. The Hint button shows a good move, Undo takes back a mistake. All the real rules are there: castling, en passant, pawn promotion, checkmate, stalemate and draws.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to play?
No. The game starts right away: no sign-up, no email address, no ads.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The board fits the screen: phone upright or sideways, tablet, computer. Nothing to install.
Are games saved?
No. Everything happens in the browser, nothing is sent or kept. Closing the page erases the game.
Which robot should a beginner pick?
Bipbip. He often plays at random, so a 7-year-old can beat him. Robix no longer leaves pieces hanging, and Titan looks for the best move.
Is there an app?
Yes: CavalMate for iPhone and iPad adds animal, dinosaur and knight pieces, a profile per child, a piece guide and a face-to-face mode on iPad. The app is in French for now.
